AACR CEO Margaret Foti, PhD, MD (hc): Thank you for an outstanding AACR Annual Meeting 2025

The AACR Annual Meeting is the touchstone of the cancer research community, each year bringing together thousands of cancer scientists, clinicians, other health care professionals, survivors, and patient advocates from around the world to discuss the latest research advances, connect with one another, and forge new collaborations. It was an immense privilege to witness so many scientific breakthroughs being shared at this year’s meeting.
We are truly grateful to Immediate Past President Patricia M. LoRusso, DO, PhD (hc), FAACR, and Program Committee Chairs Matthew G. Vander Heiden, MD, PhD, and AACR President Lillian L. Siu, MD, PhD, FAACR, for leading the development of such an incredible scientific program that showcased the amazing leaps being made across the continuum of cancer research. In addition, we thank the members of the program committees, the invited speakers, proffered abstract presenters, attendees, and dedicated AACR staff—all of whom made the AACR Annual Meeting 2025 a resounding success. Our shared commitment to driving progress against cancer helped make this meeting very productive and meaningful.
The following highlights are a testament to the impact of the AACR Annual Meeting 2025:
- More than 22,100 registrants (including more than 21,000 in-person registrants) from 85 countries and territories participated in the meeting.
- More than 200 clinical trials were presented with several practice-changing studies, and the clinical program included 15 completed phase III trials and nine phase III Trials-in-Progress presentations.
- The diverse program featured nearly 730 invited speakers from 30 countries. The speakers included 11 NextGen Stars, who were selected for podium presentations through a competitive application process.
- More than 260 scientific sessions were live-streamed (including Plenary Sessions, Major Symposia, Advances Sessions, Educational Sessions, Methods Workshops, and proffered paper sessions).
- More than 180 reporters registered for the meeting, resulting in media coverage in high-profile outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME, CNN, NBC News, CBS News, Fox News, STAT, and others.
- More than 3,850 people joined the AACR Annual Meeting conversation on the social media platform X, with over 16,000 mentions using the #AACR25 hashtag and generating a record number of 636.6 million impressions.
