Scientific program features hottest topics across the spectrum of cancer research

From late-breaking basic science discoveries to the most impactful, practice-changing translational breakthroughs, the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting 2022 Program Committee has created a comprehensive scientific program covering the most important advances and hottest topics in cancer research.

“Our goal was to put together a program that truly reflects the continuum of cancer research, from the molecular level all the way to population level,” said Program Committee Chair Marcia R. Cruz-Correa, MD, PhD. “The AACR Annual Meeting 2022 will bring together the leading minds in cancer research and medicine from institutions around the world, who will share new and emerging findings that are helping us decode the complexities of cancer.”

Cruz-Correa encourages attendees to explore the numerous sessions looking at disparities in cancer, including the impact that social determinants of health can have on different cancers and different populations.

Cruz-Correa said the program covers emerging topics that are likely to become more important in the future, including several sessions dedicated to innovative, experimental research in areas such as early cancer detection and next-generation therapeutic targets.

Program topics that are expected to generate a lot of interest and discussion include groundbreaking discoveries about the diversity of the tumor microenvironment in different cancers, the rapidly evolving field of liquid biopsy research and its implications for personalized medicine, and potentially transformative advances in the identification of targets to overcome therapeutic resistance.

“Beginning with the daily plenary sessions through numerous symposia, forums, educational sessions, and workshops, the program encompasses the latest insights and advances across the spectrum of cancer research,” she said. “Importantly—and this year more than ever—the Annual Meeting is an opportunity for us to come together again, in-person, to interact and network, to share new ideas and foster the new collaborations that move the field forward.”
